When creating a flat, plate-like form in blown glass, centrifugal force is used in the final stage to open the glass out in one swift motion. For this reason, achieving the raised rim characteristic of the Schale form requires a high level of skill.
By working with heat and centrifugal force, and blowing the glass in a way that allows it to become its form, a naturally beautiful shape emerges.
